The Journey to Healing
Taking the first steps on your healing journey might feel overwhelming at first, this is perfectly normal. After all whenever we’re doing anything new and unfamiliar our nervous system will almost always be in a state of caution.
As time goes on you will be amazed by your own inner strength!
Each obstacle that you overcome will bring you deeper into self-acceptance & personal empowerment
After a traumatic experiences, we tend to create a protective emotional shell in order to conceal our pain. However, this pain only grows and causes even more contraction within our bodies as a result of our reluctance to acknowledging it. In order to transform your life, career and relationships for the better, it’s important to take that brave step in recognizing, acknowledging and accepting where and how we’ve been hurt. This marks the beginning of a transformative journey towards your own inner healing.
Releasing yesterday’s burdens
Trauma has a way of filling our minds with the weight of past mistakes and the emotional turmoil around what happened. To truly embrace the healing, I invite you to release the emotional baggage from yesterday through somatic therapy. The simplest way we can do this is in this simple 3 step process:
Awareness: Gain clarity on how your past experiences, especially those that are painful, have affected you and your current reality.
Emotionally & Physically Process Your Hurt: Somatic therapy practices work with both the body and mind, it is important to feel all of your emotions and to connect to your body. Most of the chronic or unexplainable pain and disease we experience in the body is a result of unprocessed trauma or emotional turmoil. We recommend finding the places in your body that are holding onto pain through paying attention to the messages your body is sending you and getting curious about what your body is trying to communicate.
When we work with clients, we normally invite them into an exercise of sensation awareness, which asks them to place their attention inward towards any physical sensations the body is experiencing in the present moment, describing those sensations and feeling into the correspodning emotion that is underlying the sensation. This helps us to understand how our body communicates so that we can be more intune with ourselves and move through unpleasant experiences in healthy ways that create spaciousness in our nervous system.
When we are able to create inner spaciousness, our capacity to make choices and decisions without getting into reactive fight or flight states becomes more accessible.
Regaining Control: Here we can begin to dive into parts work and communicate with the different pieces of our psyche, especially those that we tend to reject, avoid or feel shame and guilt around. This is also known as shadow work. By understanding our subconscious needs and desires, we can begin to understand why we act in certain ways, or why certain people or situations trigger us. This not only allows us to have a better understanding of our own behavior but from this new understanding we can begin to chart a new way forward that is supportive and in alignment with the version of ourselves we would like to be.
